Is This Yours?

(21 July 2007)

So I am going through the security at the Peoria airport at 5AM trying to get back home when they pull my laptop out of the X-ray and tell me they need to go through it.
"No worries - help yourself," I say quite smug, knowing full well that I am a pro at this and that I don't have anything in there I shouldn't. The only problem is, I was wrong and I did have something in there that I shouldn't. So in front of everyone in the line he holds up my bottle of clear nail polish. I can't remember tossing it in my laptop bag, but I must have, because there it was!
He is holding it up between his thumb and pointing finger at about head height, with one eyebrow raised as a question. He pauses saying nothing as he holds the bottle and his eyebrow up for a moment.
"You want to take this back out?" he asks still holding it up for everyone behind me to see.
"Nah, chuck it," I replied.
"You can take it to your car if you like?" he said acting like the cat that got the canary.
"That's all right, go ahead and throw it away," I said smiling at him, all the while really wanting to throttle him because I LIKED that polish.
Hmm, your gonna have to work harder than that to rattle THIS drag queen!

Peoria IL

So I'm in Peoria again! It appears to be a "no man's land" for TG's (if you will forgive the play on words). I could not find anything to do looking on the internet, and no one in four Yahoo groups I'm part of appeared to have any suggestions either. Well, maybe I can't go out and do Karoake or anything, but there was no way in hell I was gonna pass up the chance to get pretty for a while. I tried a new outfit out - what do you think?

I like the above pic because it looks like I have a star in my hand! I kind of like that idea! :-)

I also tried something that might get me kicked out of the crossdressers club - I went without nylons <The crowd gasps!> Here's something most women probably learned young but I just figured out: when wearing nylons and heels, your feet tend to slide a bit in the shoe, and this ultimately winds up rubbing some spots on the tops of your toes against the straps. Over, and over, and over, until finally
you rub that spot on your toe raw and it hurts! So this time I went with out and found it a good deal more comfortable. Problem is my feet are WHITE and UGLY! I will probably go back to nylons and just deal with the ouchy toes.

I don't know why, but I just didn't feel confident today. I don't think I looked any better or any worse than other days where I have enjoyed myself, but I just didn't feel confident. I ultimately called it quits after about 3 hours. Considering it takes me 2 hours to get ready, this hardly seemed like a good return on my investment. Actually this leads me to my next comment - would you believe I'm getting bored with CDing? This one worries me a bit as a good part of why I love my job is because it gives me a lot of time to be Kim. I think the problem is that I need to find interesting things to do while out. I've walked through malls in just about every major city from Austin Texas East and they are all starting to look the same to me. Now when I did the Smithsonian thing, THAT was cool! Hmm . . . I think that's the answer - gotta find interesting things to do while dragging besides walking malls. Besides, I'm NOT wealthy so walking malls for a hobby is getting expensive because I have this nasty habit of actually buying stuff!
So I was sitting here writing this blog entry when this repetitive sound finally edges its way into my consciousness. As the hotel is right off a freeway, it took me a few minutes to realize that the sound of roaring engines I was hearing was NOT from cars! I poked my head out of the window and am greeted by a number of biplanes doing doughnuts! It looks like there must be some sort of air show going on, because as soon as they stopped and I went back inside, my room was rocked by the sound of a fighter jet going over head! I ran back down the stairs to take pics of it too!

So with out further ado, here are pics from the Airshow!

In Houston Again

In Houston again! Houston is OK, not my favorite place to be but they DO have one hell of a mall called the Galleria. I wore a new skirt - short, cute, and flirty!

Just for giggles I went into Nordstroms. Don't get me wrong, I knew that I couldn't afford to play there, but I thought it might be fun to look around. I found a top I thought was cute and thought to myself "hmm, at Target that would be $30, but here its probably $200".
Then I pulled the tag out and looked at it - and almost fainted! They wanted $1,800 for a normal, run of the mill blouse! Holy smokes I've had cars that didn't cost that much! My first car was a 67 Mustang that I bought for $600!
I've got to know - are there really people out there that can afford to pay $1,800 for typical blouse? I mean, I could see it for an awesome gown along the lines of a wedding dress, but a BLOUSE?
Hmm . . . I wanna be a rich red neck!

Indianapolis

OK, so made the drive down from Peoria to Indianapolis where I took these pictures:

I met up with Gina and we did dinner at English Ivy. This has become a bit of a tradition with us. :-)

Afterword, we checked out a few places, found most dead, and then wound up at The Metro where we played pool.

The next night, I saw "Trasnformers" and thought it was great. It started off very serious and then turned a bit silly, but hey, I expected this. Checking out the makeup and hair before heading into the theater, I got a real good laugh. See, I haven't been really happy with the tint of any of the foundation powders I've found so far. They are either too pink or not pink enough, so I decided to try mixing two. What I had not noticed, was that the pink I had mixed in had a significant component of glitter. In normal light, this is no problem, but in bright sunlight my entire face just glittered and sparkled like a disco ball! It was a bit over the top, but what the hell, so am I, so I headed out! :-)

I followed up the movie by going to the Metro again where they were doing karaoke. I've got to tell
you, I've been to a few Karaoke bars, but I've never seen anything like this! Most of the time 95% of the singers suck, 4% can be tolerated (here is the group I fall into), and 1% are really good. Here it was just the opposite- the majority were truly awesome singers, I'm talking chills up and down your spine. I got up three times - didn't wow anyone but I also didn't make a complete ass outta myself so it's all good! :-)

Well, started this week off in Peoria Illinois.

Would you believe I was just too darn tired to do the Kim thing? Hmmm . . . who'd have thunk it?! About the only thing I did see here that was worth talking about is the hotel - it was pretty cool, and reminded me very much of Bavaria where my wife and I lived for 3 years while I was in the Army.
I snuck into one of their meeting rooms where they had a grand paino and played around with it for a while.

This picture below did not turn out as well as I had hoped. You see, off to the right is a flower garden that was just beautiful, but you can hardly see it here. :-(

While working here, I got the message that I needed to drive down to Indianapolis for a customer down there. It's kind of neat - I got paid to spend an entire morning looking at trees, grass, rivers, and sunshine while I drove down there! :-)

Last Night I went to Sleep in Detroit City

There's a song in there somewhere. Too late! It's already been taken!

There are two points to this picture (besides boosting my ego):
1 - I got a new top while I was in Minnesota last week. I think it is perfect for this skirt and it is SO much nicer than a turtle neck knit top.
2 - I bought new ear rings for this outfit. One of my friends on-line (I'll just give you her intials - Gail Stauffer! lol) keeps commenting that I need to stop wearing the same ones over and over. Well here's proof that I own more than one pair of 'em!

So this week I was working in Detroit, a city known for many things, but near and dear to me as the birth place of my third child - my 67 Mustang. :-)
I managed to get my job done, my customer is a happy camper, and so I was free for the Friday evening. On one of my previous trips to the area I had met a Tgirl named Glenda. Now there are two people you can blame for my cruising the nations malls and inflicting my blog on you - Karen Hutton and Glenda.

Karen, because reading her adventures on Crossdressers.com excited me and made me want come out
and play too. Glenda, because when I first met her, I suggested we go out to a local gay bar to meet and Glenda refused. Seems she grew up in that area and knew it was not a good place to hang out. Instead she wanted to meet in the lounge of a rather nice hotel. Well, I had been to a few "normal" places dressed, but very few and it used to scare hell outta me, but this time it was just so cool! Glenda was perfectly comfortable, thus giving me confidence, and the waitress was just awesome - full of smiles and very friendly. If was such a nice experience to sit somewhere and talk where you didn't have to scream over music you don't like, while fending off guys that spill their drinks all over you trying to impress you even though you have a wedding ring on. Anyway, the experience opened my eyes - thanks Glenda!

Well, this time I met up with Glenda to go to a casino in down town Detroit. There is a bonus tonight - while visiting her 360 page, I noticed that Riz lives in the area and so I dropped her a note. It looks like she has to work until evening, but then she is going to meet us too!

We get into Detroit and it turns out there is a baseball game at the same time, so the area is PACKED and we had to park about a block and a half away and walk.Through the crowd. Through LOTS of people. Did I mention this used to scare the hell outta me?

Well, we get to the Casino and do the usual - lots of slots. Started out with 1 cent machines, moved to 2 cent bets, tried a $1 machine but lost lots real fast and backed down to quarter machines in a hurry. Lost about $70 dollars when I hit a good win and won $140! I was smart and took my money and ran home. (cough, cough, choke, gasp)
No I wasn't, I was stupid and kept playing. Ended up loosing somewhere in the area of $60 through the night, but hey, I had fun so what the heck!

Riz arrived around 11:30 with a GG friend of hers, Daniel, so we went out of the casino to a little
pastry shop where we sat and talked for about an hour and a half. Riz is a very serious woman - very concerned with the TG world and clearly determined to do her part to make it a better place to be. I was very impressed with her. We spoke of the mundane and of the serious - quite a nice chat. I have been thinking more and more lately that I should DO SOMETHING for the TG world. No idea WHAT, but something. The gay folks had their fight, the took the blows, and they earned their place in being accepted.
So far it seems to me like the majority of us TGs have simply reaped the rewards of their efforts.

Note: I am well aware there are some TG's out there fighting for us, but relatively speaking they are few and far between. Please don't flame me and drown me with comments.

Bad news though - gotta catch a plane in the morning so at 1AM I called it quites and we headed for the car. Glenda insists I'm crazy, but I did notice a few folks looking our way on the walk. I've come to accept this as the price for being out and about - SOME people ARE going to notice, so you may as well just deal with it. While I saw a few looks, no one hassled us, and that's what counts.

At the parking lot we took out the cameras and did a whole round of pictures up against a wall that was covered with graffiti art! Daniel laughed and told me "If someone offers to take our picture for us, your answer is NO!"
It took me a second to realize her point: how fast can you run in a long skirt and 3 inch heels after the guy that takes off with your camera?

Anyway, had a great time and looking forward to the next trip. I'm going to Peoria IL next week, anyone know anything about the place? Anyone? Hello?!
