Still here . . .

I thought that I'd take a moment to let y'all know that I am still alive and kicking!
I have been doing a lot of traveling, but for an assortment of reasons, I have not been able to make the trips pretty.

As an example, I recently had to make a trip to Fishkill NY to work on a system that had failed there. I found out on my drive home from the office the night before I left that my manager was going to be traveling on the very same flight that I was on. That could have been immensely uncomfortable and unpleasant for all involved because he has made it clear over the years how he feels about "those kind of people"!

Anyway, I'm still here, still breathing, and still working, but have nothing to really blog about . . .

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and happy Holidays!

P.S. - When you're picking out gifts, don't forget that I wear size 10 shoes and that I am a dress size 12 to 14 (leaning more toward the 14). All gifts can be mailed to my attention at . . . ah, never mind . . .   :)

  3. I went shopping for me on Sunday. Found a cute zippered skirt too. Then I remembered...Christmas isn't my birthday (duh). Hardest thing to do is not buy for yourself because no one else will buy for this girl. I keep hoping my wife will have an epiphany and realize that's all I want for Christmas--I guess I will have to wait for the Christian season of Epiphany for that!

  5. I'm glad you're taking precautions and not letting it affect your job. We want more openness and acceptance, and you should be commended, but sometimes I'm scared that the wrong person will find out and it will hurt you.

Thank you for the Christmas wishes and I look forward to seeing more of you. Merry Christmas!

  6. Kim -

Some people will never change, because they grew up in a world where tradition and roles were never challenged. Others come from the same world, get sensitized to the idea that this view is limited, and grow bigger than where they came from. You are among the latter group - a person who has grown in spite of the background you came from - and are a much better person because of it.

  7. Hi Kim -

I love your blog. In many ways we are alike. I travel for work but it is almost exclusively overseas, mainly to East Africa. As you can imagine, travelling pretty would not go over well there. I admire you a great deal though. Have a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Sadly, East Africa is way behind the times.... Too bad you're not commuting between the USA and Japan - you'd have a ball!
